It also features excellent barcode scanner recognition and an automatic cleaning system to ensure uninterrupted, excellent print quality. Heavy duty print heads guarantee reliability and longevity.

The IJ4000 series is small in size for easy integration and has a large touch display with an integrated keyboard providing complete on-line control. It allows for flexible and individual operation of two independent production lines, driving up to four printers.

What is Inkjet Coding?

Inkjet coding, often referred to as “inkjet printing,” is a method used to print text, barcodes, date codes, and graphics onto products and packaging. It’s a non-contact printing method, which means the print head itself doesn’t touch the surface that’s being printed on.

How does it work?

Inkjet coding works by propelling droplets of ink onto a surface. In large-character inkjet coding this is typically achieved using the piezo-electric effect, The print heads and nozzles are designed to produce larger droplets and, consequently, larger print characters, which is beneficial to packaging/products of a bigger size that need to be labelled/coded appropriately.

Diagraph Large Character Inkjet Printer Product Features

Diagraph is a prominent player in the marking, coding, and labelling sector. Their Large Character Ink Jet (LCIJ) printers are well-known within the industry for their reliability and efficiency.

The Diagraph Large Character Inkjet Printer is built to withstand a variety of industrial applications and keep pace with a busy production line. Check out the features of this industry-leading printer below.

Printer Settings

The settings allow for adjustments in order to ensure optimal results on porous/non-porous materials. The printer can also handle line speeds of up to 90 metres per minute, ensuring fast and efficient printing that can perform alongside your production outputs.

Barcode Scanner Recognition

The printer ensures high-quality large prints that are easily recognizable by barcode scanners. Even at high line speeds of up to 90 metres per minute, the clarity of printed barcodes is maintained, ensuring they are scannable.

Up to 200mm Print Height

The printer is capable of producing large prints with a height of up to 200mm. This feature allows for greater flexibility in the size and design of printed content, making it suitable for various applications, from large logos to extensive product information. If operating at a height of 200m, ensure that the settings align with the desired resolution.

Throw Distance

Diagraph printers can achieve a throw distance of up to 12mm. This allows for some flexibility in the positioning of the printhead relative to the substrate, ensuring consistent print quality even if the printhead is not in direct contact.

Substrate Versatility

Another key feature of the Diagraph Large Character Inkjet printer is that it is able to print onto a variety of different substrates, including wood, paper, cardboard, plastic, leather and other absorbent materials. Which is beneficial to operations that deal with a variety of products/packaging materials.

Compact Size

The Diagraph IJ4000 series is built to be a compact size. This allows for an easy integration that can accommodate a range of different operations and their size constraints, meaning that you can benefit from industrial performance, whilst having a convenient and small-sized inkjet printer.

The drying time of ink in a large-character inkjet coding printer can vary based on several factors. Check them out below in order to assess the most appropriate solution for your operation.

Type of Ink

Different inks have different drying times. For example, water-based inks tend to dry faster than solvent-based inks, but they might not be as durable. UV-curable inks dry almost instantly when exposed to UV light.

Substrate Material

The material onto which the ink is being printed can affect drying time. Porous materials like paper or cardboard absorb ink faster, leading to quicker drying times. Non-porous materials such as plastic might require longer drying times or the use of specialised inks.
On average, for typical applications on cardboard or paper with standard inks, the drying time can be anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes. However, for non-porous materials, the drying time can be much longer.

Environmental Conditions

Humidity and temperature can influence the drying time. High humidity can slow down the drying process, while higher temperatures can speed it up. Ensure that you assess the humidity within your operation for optimum output results.

The Diagraph Large Character Inkjet printer boasts an efficient automatic cleaning system, this ensures the high performance of the printer and facilitates its smooth operation. However, some maintenance is still required in order to secure optimal performance and machine longevity.

Check Ink Levels

  • Regularly monitor the ink levels and replace or refill cartridges as needed.
  • Always use the manufacturer-recommended ink to prevent clogging and ensure optimal print quality.

Inspect Components

  • Regularly check the printhead, nozzles, and other components for wear and tear.
  • Replace worn-out parts as necessary.

Update Software/Firmware

  • Ensure the printer’s software or firmware is up-to-date. We often release updates to improve performance or fix bugs.

Maintain Optimal Environmental Conditions

  • Keep the printer in a location with stable temperature and humidity. Extreme conditions can affect performance and ink drying times.

Regular Use

  • If possible, use the printer regularly. Prolonged inactivity can lead to ink drying and clogging the nozzles.

This is just a brief explanation of the machine maintenance, upon purchase, you will be given more detailed information regarding machine aftercare and upkeep.
